Siemens S7-200 Intro to Maintenance & Programming    2 Days   $1200

We have put together a training program for the Simatic S7-200 Programmable Controller that may be of interest to you. The goal of the two-day training program is to take someone with little knowledge of this programmable controller and give him or her good introductory knowledge of the hardware, wiring, programming and debugging of the S7-200 system.

The starting session will introduce the student to the concepts of a programmable controller, and the hardware associated with the Simatic S7-200. The hardware overview includes the key features of the controller, I/O wiring and Expansion I/O modules. The late morning session will include programming exercises for relay ladder logic and checking status. The emphasis at this point is sequential logic programs, and their implementation using time, count or event to control a process or machine. We continue in the afternoon discussing the data block for use in operator interface, mathematical functions and simple analog control. We conclude the first day session with a dissertation on program organization using subroutines, which has become a mainstay feature of the Siemens PLC's.

The beginning of the second day highlights the use of subroutines where parameters are passed to and from the routine. By mid-morning we move on to the topic of interrupt handling in the S7-200. This phase of the course emphasizes work with the high-speed counters and high frequency outputs. The wrap-up session in the afternoon deals with connectivity via modem and Ethernet. Features of documentation, debugging, and diagnostics are covered through the example programs as the topic warrants.

Our instructor uses overhead projection with direct link to computer, blackboard emphasis and hands-on workstations to present the course material. Attendance is limited to eight people so that each person can gain experience.
