Outside Sales Engineer

Applied Controls, Inc. is a full service distributor and Automation Technology Center providing factory automation products to eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Applied Controls maintains a staff of application engineers and product specialists offering expertise in PLC, industrial controls, operator interface, motion control, machine vision, and sensor applications. System design and configuration, PLC programming, turnkey motion projects and startup services are specialties. Our automation technology centers provide advanced training, hands-on workshops, technical seminars, application specific demonstrations and proof of concept testing. "Sensor to Net Solutions" is the phrase that best describes our approach to machine or process control. Particular attention is paid to reliably solving our customers' sensing applications. Consignment hardware is available for evaluation and testing, and a large inventory is maintained for prompt delivery. Engineering field service and emergency parts replacement is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Applied Controls is an EOE.
Outside Sales Engineer

Position of an Outside Sales Engineer: This position involves managing an assigned territory for all of our product lines by an experienced sales professional. Sales activities include calling on a strong base of existing accounts, leveraging other product lines and pursuing new and target accounts. New business is generated utilizing leads and referrals generated by our proactive marketing programs such as workshops, seminars, newsletters, direct mail, email, as well as, by our vendor's advertising and web sites. We develop successful client relationships utilizing solution selling and a pre-engineered agreement strategy. We maintain a full staff of inside sales, customer service and application engineers with inventory and value added services. Fee based services and registered integrator partners are available to provide turn key integration, start up, training, field service and any other services necessary to insure a successful project.

Our ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Education: Engineering degree and/or minimum 6 years equivalent industry knowledge/experience. Some form of Professional Sales Training evidenced by certificates of completion or CEUs.
  • Skills/Experience: Must be an experienced professional sales person with demonstrated skills in good business judgment together with above average oral and written communication skills; as well as excellent organizational skills. Technical aptitude and high personal interest level. Working knowledge of electrical & mechanical components, systems & processes. Committed service professional with sincere customer advocate focus. Required computer proficiency; Microsoft products, standard engineering software tools, familiarity with PLC, HMI, and motion programming software.
  • Other Requirements/Qualifications: Driven to achieve & excel. Ability to work in a team environment toward common goals. Motivated and committed to ongoing personal improvement.

Candidate must reside in assigned territory. We provide a base salary with a monthly commission incentive, performance bonus, 401K, benefit plan, car and phone allowance, and expenses. Excellent benefits package. EOE
